1

Describe the job

Postcodes, floors — and in this city, whether there's a basement, a hill or a permit zone in the story.

2

Read the number

Van, crew, hours and inclusions on paper. Stairs and slopes are counted here, not sprung later.

3

Pick the slot

Confirm in writing and it's held. Weekends near the seafront go fast; weekday mornings are the quiet win.

4

We carry, you unlock

Padded, strapped, up whatever Brighton throws at us — and put down in the right room at the other end.

This city moves vertically. We plan for that.

Brighton stacks its moving days like nowhere else on the coast: basement flats with steps to the street, Regency staircases never built for wardrobes, Hanover's terraces climbing from the Level, and 26 parking zones — several permit-only — deciding where a van may legally stand.

None of it is a problem when it's in the plan. Name the street and the floor, and the quote arrives already knowing the hill.

FAQ

Answered before the van starts — the Brighton-shaped questions especially.

How much does a man with a van cost in Brighton?

The table is public: a medium van runs £22 an hour with a working driver, £33 with two men, £44 with three — the large van £28, £39 and £55. The hours depend on the load, the stairs, the hill and the parking, and the expected total arrives in writing before anything is booked.

Is there a ULEZ or Clean Air Zone charge in Brighton?

No — and some national moving sites get this wrong. Brighton & Hove's only emission scheme is a bus-only Low Emission Zone on a short central stretch; there is no charge for cars or vans anywhere in the city. Zone charges only enter the picture on our London runs, where they're itemised in the quote.

My street is permit-only — can the van still load?

Yes, with planning. The city runs 26 lettered parking zones, and several — Hanover and Elm Grove's Zone S among them — are permit-only with no pay-and-display. Rules differ zone by zone, so tell us the street when you enquire and the loading plan goes into the quote rather than becoming a ticket.

Can you handle a basement flat or a steep Hanover terrace?

That's Brighton moving in a nutshell, and it's our everyday work: Regency conversions with narrow original staircases, basement steps up to street level, and terraces climbing from the Level towards Queen's Park. Stairs and slopes cost honest hours, never mystery surcharges — say what you've got and the quote allows for it.

Do you do student moves for Sussex and Brighton universities?

Constantly — with roughly 34,000 students across the two universities, September move-ins and June move-outs are the city's busiest van weeks. Single rooms, house shares and runs home are all priced by the hour, so a small load stays a small bill.

Which areas do you cover?

All of Brighton & Hove — Kemptown to Portslade, seafront to Patcham — plus the towns along the coast and over the Downs: Shoreham, Worthing, Lewes, Peacehaven, Eastbourne, Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath. Each has its own page with the local detail.
